Royds Hall Restructure
Consultation Outcome - 14th July 2021
We have now reviewed the comments received during the recent consultation about the future of Royds Hall, Lily Park and Luck Lane. We have written a summary of the comments we received and our replies. We enclose a copy of the summary at the bottom of this page.
The Board of Directors met on 1st July. They read the summary and all the individual comments we received, whether they were shared at the meeting, sent by e-mail or through our online survey. After carefully considering the responses, the board decided to proceed with the application for a significant change.
Most external partners recognised the issue we face with a smaller population not being able to support the number of places available in our schools. They also understood why we would want to transfer children from Lily Park to the new building at Luck Lane.
A number of parents questioned the timing of the change. The board accepted that making the change on 1st January was not ideal. We are now proposing to make the changes after the Easter break in 2022, but it may be later. We will not know exactly when the changes can take place until after we submit the application to the Department for Education. After reflecting on comments received, we can see it would be better if we spent plenty of time working with the children, to get them ready for the changes. Delaying the transfer will help us to do this better. Unfortunately, this may also create more uncertainty for you. Please do get in touch if you have any questions or if we can help.
We will submit the application shortly. The short delay will allow us to talk to partners, such as the local authority and unions, to iron out any remaining concerns they may have.
