Royds Hall restructure

We have just started an important consultation about the future of Royds Hall through-school, which comprises of:

  • Royds Hall, A SHARE Academy;
  • Lily Park, A SHARE Primary Academy; and,
  • Luck Lane, A SHARE Primary Academy.

You can read about our proposals in the document below: “Restructuring Royds Hall; Securing the best system for our children’s future”.  If you require a paper copy of the paper please request one through the school office or by emailing

The paper recommends some significant changes to the way our primary schools are organised. Please read it carefully. I also hope you will be able to join us for consultation meetings, where you can ask more questions. Your views will help us make the best choices for your children.

The consultation period will run from 17th May to 27th June 2021.  Consultation meetings, where you will be able ask more questions about the plans, will be held as follows:

Please email or ring the school office on 01484 505228 with your meeting preference and we will try our very best to give you your preference.  If we cannot fit everybody in, we will offer you another time.

I will not describe all the proposals but would like to draw your attention to our aims:

  • Create brilliant schools with the highest standards of teaching and learning.
  • Offer a first-class curriculum in an excellent learning environment.
  • Provide outstanding support for all our pupils, including the most able, those experiencing some form of disadvantage and those who need more help, including children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
  • Ensure the schools are financially secure, able to pay for the best resources and staff.

I am sure we will all be able to agree on these intentions, even if we have different views about how we can bring them about. I can assure you we will try to do the very best we can for the children who attend our schools. That will ultimately decide what we choose to do.

We need you to put your views in writing. You can do this in one of two ways:

  1. By sending an email to
  2. By writing to Mrs J Newson, SHARE Multi-Academy Trust, c/o Shelley College, Huddersfield Road, Shelley, Huddersfield HD8 8NL.
  3. Alternatively, you can follow the link below to answer the questions set out in the document enclosed: “Restructuring Royds Hall; Securing the best system for our children’s future”.

It is very important you sign any message and be clear on your reason for replying, i.e. whether you are a parent, relative, member of the local community or belong to an organisation affected by the change. This helps us to share your view with the Board of Directors and the Department for Education. Every response will be shared with the Board.

Any final decisions have to be made by the Secretary of State for Education. At the end of this consultation, the Board of Directors will decide whether to apply to make these changes, submit a different set of plans or consult on an alternative set of proposals. We expect this first decision to be made in July, depending on the consultation outcomes.

If you require any further information or have any questions about the consultation, please get in touch, otherwise would you kindly respond in writing by the consultation end date of 27th June. We may not be able to respond to every question individually, but we will publish answers to questions at the end of the consultation on our trust website

We look forward to hearing your views and meeting you at our consultation meetings.
